Frick Park Earth Day Trail Projects
Frick Park
Saturday 4/20 @ 9am at the lower parking lot. We plan to finish by noon. Please bring work gloves if you have them, water, and sturdy footwear. Tools will be provided.
We will primarily be working on rerouting a user-created trail between Trough and Rollercoaster to make it more sustainable long term and create a safer intersection with Lower Riverview trail. This event will cover much of the construction of the new section of trail, and hopefully also restoration of the old one. This is a manual labor type activity with digging, raking, and moving dirt via wheelbarrow.
There may also be some maintenance repairs on Rollercoaster Trail such as leaf raking, or invasive species removal and native plant planting if resources allow.

Boyce Park Ski Lodge
Before the vegetation starts growing we're going to take this opportunity to do some corridor clearing to remove invasives and attack the notoriously overgrown areas. Please come dressed for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, and bring work gloves. Please bring loppers, manual hedge trimmers, and/or pruning saws if you have them. We will have our tools available for those without. No power tools will be allowed. Make sure to bring water and a snack!
We're going to meet at the parking lots near the ski lodge. Planned areas of work are the orange / black dot, orange/white dot, wave pool loop, water tower loop.
Join us for our online steward meeting! This is open to anyone who wants to discuss or get involved with the trail work we do in local parks.

New date due to rain forecast! Sat 3/30!! Come and help us get the dirt in the Skills Park and on the Dr J trail ready for 2024! Lips and landers need freshened up with some new dirt and a lot of shovel slapping. Trailflo Bikes and Trail Adventures have pledged to help. All are welcome - DJ folks needed!! Bring gloves and a flat shovel if you got one. Lunch provided. Dirt needs to be moist and not wet.
Steward Training Field Session

Join us for our annual steward training event with the Allegheny County Park Rangers! We will work in the field to teach trail work principles. The classroom session is online Thursday March 7th at 8P and the field work session is Sunday March 10th 10AM at the South Park Wave Pool.
Open to anyone who is interested in becoming a Trail Pittsburgh Trail Steward or volunteering with Trail Pittsburgh. Come to both if you can!

Come and help the North Park stewards get the Dr J Trail and the Skills Park ready for 2023! Meet at the Skills Park 9AM. Bring boots and gloves. Tools, water & lunch provided! Rain or shine! If we get rained out will plan another day in March/April
Steward Training Online Session
Join us for our annual steward training event with the Allegheny County Park Rangers! The classroom session will be online Thursday March 7th 8PM and the field session will be held at South Park Wave Pool on Sunday March 10th at 10AM. Try to attend both! Anyone interested in becoming a Trail PIttsburgh Trail Steward or doing volunteer trail work with Trail Pittsburgh is welcome.
